Bohemian Quantum Paradox

Essay concerning human misunderstanding.

Okay. I’m a creative, well I like to think so, but then again don’t most people?

I’m one of those people who has to create something most days, whether it be a painting, a piece of writing, poetry or just composing a riff on a guitar. Its never like work though – that’s the point. Often just something I have to express, and then I’ll often do nothing for a couple of days.

I heard some guy once talking about his love of ‘unstructured time’, I can identify with that. It’s a beautiful term. I have a deep loathing of having to appear somewhere at a prescribed time on someone else's authority. (This has often created problems in my life.)

My school and work life were always somewhat… ‘fragmented’ by my often unconscious drive toward severe chronometric deconstruction syndrome (Has anybody else been diagnosed with this by their GP?)

Although ‘between jobs’ at the moment, I only ever do part-time work, or when I was younger, Uni/College study and bursts of seasonal work mixed with the annual creative sabbatical courtesy of DHSS arts funding.

My real problem is ‘synchronicity’…my mind and body rarely simultaneously occupy the singular space-time nexus of a given physical locale. Especially if that place is somewhere I don’t want either my mind or body to be. Its like the ghost is no longer in the machine, but rather prefers little ‘holidays in the sun’ without the baggage of the corporeal self.

This ‘psychic roaming’ ability (talent?) often occurs in ‘work environments’ funnily enough. (I used to paint narrowboats, but this was not ‘work’ – a different world.)

My central thesis reveals the ironic paradox at the heart of the Domesticated Bohemian’s consciousness – movement and action!

A true Bohemian's mind exists in a quantum super-positional state, exploring many worlds simultaneously: intellectual, artistic, fantastic and comedic - past, present and future collide and cross-fertilize on the sub-atomic level. (Stay with me please!)

Rather like Schroedinger’s cat we are never really alive or dead, but surf on the shimmering quark wave of cosmic becoming!

Unfortunately, I have noticed that the majority of the population do not exhibit this Pan-Consciousness, or Quark surfing ability.

I have often witnessed the tragic consequences of this ‘quantum zombie’ syndrome at first hand – especially in government officials, Policemen/women, accountants, estate agents, ‘supervisors’, managers, all bosses, Top Gear presenters and Alex Ferguson.

Most personally for me, I have noticed this phenomena in a lot of work ‘colleagues’. The probability wave has collapsed in these people, and a certain one-dimensional physical singularity is achieved, with the density and compactness of a cosmic black hole. No light can ever, ever escape.

The real problem with these people is they never had a ghost in the machine in the first place, or if they did, it was exorcised by our cultural webmasters very early on.

I do think that a systematic mapping of Idle quark trajectories may reveal interesting ‘anomalies’ between a control group of grafting ‘normal’s’ and an experimental group of DM’s. Maybe this research could be carried out at the giant particle accelerator at CERN? Publicly funded of course – a giant Giro cheque?

I desperately hope that my thesis may be scientifically verified in the not too distant future, as this may explain, justify and ‘medicate’ somewhat, my lifelong loathing of ‘waged labour’, structured time, and incredibly fucking stupid people.

To Conclude, I wonder if anybody else (please) agrees with me, that the increasing manifestation of consumer/clone disaffection in the population, is akin to the symbolic and religious revolution seen in worldwide cave art around 50’000 years ago?

Do you believe you are currently experiencing an evolutionary seismic shift in your conscious awareness?

(I’m thinking of tidying this up a bit and submitting it as a PHD research proposal, what do you think?)
